Hi, my name is Jess. I live in Melbourne, Australia with my husband (Mr Q) and two daughters aged three (Little Miss H) and one (Tiny Miss P).
Somewhere along the line I misplaced my waistline – I had hoped this was a temporary situation but now I’m not so sure. I found myself with a wardrobe consisting mostly of old office clothes and tailored items that no longer fit me well, leaving me with fewer and fewer options to wear. I finally decided that perhaps I could do better than my uniform of old jeans and (gasp!) faded maternity hoodies.
Maybe it was wanting to look nice for my two girls, maybe it was time to do something for myself, or maybe it was just some kind of personal crisis triggered by turning 30. Whatever the case may be, I suddenly wished for a wardrobe containing clothes that suit me and look good together, and for the knowledge to create a more polished look (in a casual-mum kind of way). Thus began my quest for a functional wardrobe.
Developing my style continues to challenge me, requiring research as well as a lot of trial and error. Like many mums I’m fairly short on both time and money, but I’m intrigued to see what I can achieve in spite of this.
