Sorry for my absence – as much as I’d love to tell you I’ve been away on holidays gathering inspiration and new clothes this is simply not the case! The last couple of weeks I’ve been scrambling to get everything done and honestly have not had the time to think about photographing outfits. It seemed like a whole bunch of projects I’ve been working towards for months suddenly started to wrap up all at once. Packing up Nan’s house, converting our garage into a home office, launching our new farm management software at work – I confess there have been many days of re-wearing an outfit from the day before.
Anyway, here I am today making a bit of an effort on my appearance for the first time in a couple of weeks, in all blue and green. I’m still trying to figure out if this classifies as monochromatic – regardless, hey I got dressed and perhaps things can slow down a little now (temporarily at least).
Today’s outfit certainly has some bright colours going on, but the navy cardigan helps to tone it down a little. The plumber working at our place this afternoon proved this point to me. When he arrived I was wearing my cardigan and he didn’t blink an eye, then an hour later when I went to see how he was going I had taken my cardigan off: “Wow, that’s bright!”

There are seriously not enough hours in the day.
Not enough hours in the day for all my appointments while keeping my house clean(ish) and cooking a healthy dinner every night. And certainly not enough hours in the day to waste time discarding multiple unsatisfactory outfits until I find the perfect one! I gave up after trying a couple of options this morning, and while this is definitely not my all-time favourite ensemble it was good enough to wear whilst making a small dent in my to-do list.
I’m constantly drawn to combinations of colours next door to each other on the colour wheel. Red and orange (or pink), green and blue, red and purple, and now my latest favourite – purple and navy. There’s something about navy that seems to calm down these purple jeans – not that I’m against their brightness, but some days I just prefer to tone it down a little.

Today was my birthday, hooray! It’s certainly nice to have a special day where you get a little extra attention and feel far less guilt for indulging in too much cake.
It’s also a year since I turned thirty, which means it’s fast approaching a year since I started this blog to document (and motivate) my journey to build a more functional wardrobe. I’m making smarter choices when purchasing new items, and I’m definitely more confident about putting together outfits I like. Such as today’s outfit – I really enjoyed wearing it to celebrate my birthday with family. (Unfortunately the photos don’t do it justice – a dark stormy day meant there was little light to work with, even at midday.)
