Quest for a Functional Wardrobe - Gaining Momentum

Towards the end of the year time seems to speed up, like everything suddenly needs to be crammed in before it grinds to a halt for the holiday season. This process seems to have started ridiculously early this year – I’ve been kept really busy for several weeks already and it now doesn’t look like there’s be any down-time before 2014 rolls around! The good news is that it looks very much like my Nan’s house will sell quickly and easily and she’ll be in the new place before Christmas. But between here and then are still many things to organise.

My new favourite top got another outing today – I love wearing it because not only is it really comfortable, but I always get compliments. I paired it with a red cardigan today which was perfect for a sunny spring day. It’s difficult to see from the photos, but my top has some beige-grey (taupe?) mixed in which helps to soften the contrast between the red, navy and white.

Quest for a Functional Wardrobe - In A Hurry

Today I was in a bit of a hurry to wear this top again – prior to this recent purchase it had been close to three months since I’d bought new clothes, so the novelty of a new item hasn’t worn off just yet.

I was also in a hurry to wear this skirt again. As much as I’ve seen many adorable white winter outfits, this piece really says summer to me. So despite the fact we are merely days into spring, the weather is warm and it’s been far too long since I’ve had the chance to wear this white skirt! When the temperature soars I really can’t go wrong with this light airy skirt – see below for some other ways I’ve worn it.

I was really happy with this top/skirt/belt combination today, but questioned the shoes and necklace. I don’t really have many heeled shoes as the majority of my outfits are casual. I’ve got these black pointy heels, black round-toe heels, white peep-toe heels and pink wedges. I tried the white heels and they didn’t really suit so I chose these pointy toe black heels as they have some gold/brown stitching on them which looks quite nice with this skirt. I still have nude heels/wedges on my “to buy” list, perhaps they would have worked for me in this case.

The outfit seemed a little plain so I added the necklace, and again although I didn’t think these pearls were the perfect choice it was the best I could find. It just seemed a bit strange to me to add black shoes and a white necklace to a brown and blue outfit! All in all, not my favourite outfit but not terrible either.
