I didn’t realise until I went to write up today’s post that my outfit is incredibly similar to one I’ve worn before. Shock, horror!
The first time I wore this outfit was towards the end of my first month of blogging, so it’s interesting note what has changed since then:
* Stripes with spots – I don’t think that had crossed my mind as a possibility back then
* I’ve discovered some more interesting ways to tie scarves
* I’m a little less awkward in photos
* It’s still hard to look dignified in windy weather
* I’m more likely to have one blazer cuff rolled up and the other down and not even notice. For hours. Whoops.
Today’s activities started with an excursion to an amazing sweet shop followed by a picnic in the park. Which was freezing, so by this stage my outfit was more like this:
I’m really starting to struggle with creating cold-weather outfits. I know I need to buy some new things, but I seem unable to figure out what I really need to fill the gaps – at this stage my plan is to just buy something and see if that helps. I know, not the best plan!

I currently own two blazers – both were once part of suits I wore to my corporate job before having kids. Back then I wore the pants and skirts all the time, but barely used the blazers as it seemed a bit too boring to wear so much grey or black at one time. I used to wonder if it was a waste of money to have bought the suit jacket, but now I’m glad I did as I enjoy wearing them much more as part of a casual outfit with jeans.
I’d like to add one or two blazers to my collection during the next few months, this time in a bright colour or print for some variety. I love how a blazer can instantly add style, even if you’re wearing old jeans with scuffed boots!
Simple, cosy outfit for a simple, cosy day at home.
Loads of laundry, tidying up, baking apple cinnamon muffins with Little Miss H, and ooh-ing at Tiny Miss P’s first pigtails – too cute!
I haven’t worn this printed top for a while. Not because I don’t want to wear it, but because I thought I had exhausted the outfit possibilities. Today I tried pairing it with a red cardigan and to my surprise I really liked the result – I hadn’t expected it to work as there is no red in the print, just various shades of pink and orange. And not for the first time I found the red cardi added a great vibrancy to the outfit. Three cheers for red!
