Clutter Free

Quest for a Functional Wardrobe - Clutter Free

Quest for a Functional Wardrobe - Clutter Free

Today is about being free of clutter. It’s been a while coming, but today is the day that my Nan’s house is finally ready for inspections by prospective buyers. There are people coming through this afternoon, so the next couple of hours will be spent frantically shoving as much as possible out of sight. Into cupboards, under beds, anywhere we can fit it really.

With that in mind, my outfit needs to be clutter-free as well. I don’t want to be annoyed by dangling jewellery or scarves, so to make it a little less boring I’ve gone for a top with interesting texture around the neckline. My accessory of choice is a belt (unlikely to get in the way), which adds some unexpected colour. It would be fantastic Nan gets a reasonable offer on the house today so this process doesn’t draw out for weeks and weeks!

Today’s outfit certainly has some bright colours going on, but the navy cardigan helps to tone it down a little. The plumber working at our place this afternoon proved this point to me. When he arrived I was wearing my cardigan and he didn’t blink an eye, then an hour later when I went to see how he was going I had taken my cardigan off: “Wow, that’s bright!”

Pink And Purple

I loved the combination of striped scarf and argyle vest so much last time that I thought I’d try a variation today. I think I still prefer my original version – today’s top doesn’t seem to bring out any purple tones in the scarf the way my purple jeans did last time.

But still a fun outfit, perfect for a busy day.

Can I also tell you again how good it is to finally have a proper tripod! In today’s photos I’m standing in the same spot I generally stand, but the camera is on a different angle. I started out at the standard angle, but the colours were completely washed out. Hooray for the tripod, giving me the freedom to move the camera around and the pictures were so much more vibrant and true to colour. (See below for the “washed out” version.)

Seriously, all I did was move the camera a couple of metres to the left

Not Suited

I wore this outfit to do some morning errands, but it just didn’t quite seem right. The blazer with black jeans felt a little too much like a suit, especially dressed up with a necklace. So for the afternoon I swapped out the blazer for a denim jacket, and the necklace for a scarf.

I’m sure I would have been happy enough in the original outfit given the right occasion, but for a busy day driving around I was much more comfortable with the second option.

Taste Of Spring

Quest for a Functional Wardrobe - Taste Of Spring

The last couple of days have been absolutely beautiful, more like perfect spring weather. I doubt we’ve seen the last of winter just yet, but today I relished the chance to forgo some of the extra layers and keep things really simple. I even spent a bit of time sans cardigan today, soaking up the glorious sunshine. So good.
