This time last year I didn’t understand why you would buy a 3/4 sleeve cardigan. After all, you need a cardigan when you’re cold, and when you’re cold you’re just as likely to be wearing long sleeves underneath.
Since following a bunch of style blogs I’ve started to think a little more outside the box to make the most of the clothes I have. While I still consider long sleeves to be more useful to me (I really feel the cold), I now consider 3/4 sleeves to be a perfectly good option. Today I have a long-sleeved top under my cardigan – a year ago this would just not have occurred to me as a possibility. Now I just push up my long sleeves slightly (leaving a bit hanging out the end of my cardigan sleeve for interest) and I think it looks great.

The air was decidedly warmer today with next week’s forecast looking glorious indeed. Spring is in the air! I celebrated by ditching the socks for the first time in months.
This was an outfit that came together accidentally and I loved how it turned out. I consider this top to be purple – albeit a rather blueish purple – but it blended really well with this blue and red scarf. Close enough to belong, yet not so close as to be really “matchy”.
This is one of my favourite scarves – it’s generously sized but with a soft drape so it doesn’t feel overwhelming. I love the proportions of large scarf with short-sleeved top – one I’m sure I’ll be repeating as the warmer weather continues to creep in.
This isn’t my most figure-flattering outfit, but I liked how the violet t-shirt picked up the purple in my floral top. I tried using a belt to add some shape, but couldn’t find a look that I was happy with so instead went down the path of distraction. I added a floral necklace, creating a cacophony of flowers and colour around my neckline. My aim was to draw the eye upwards, however I think I would have had more success using neutral shoes. Lesson learned!
This is my the fourth instalment for the Pinterest Challenge, where I commit to actually using some of the ideas I’ve saved using Pinterest. Today I was inspired by this photo featuring pink, red and green. I didn’t realise at the time, but it is apparently from the J Crew Spring 2012 catalogue. Hey, so I’m not an early adopter of trends!
I didn’t have high hopes for this outfit but was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. I certainly don’t look as awesome as the model from my inspiration picture, but I think I’ve fairly successfully captured the essence of the colour combination I admired.
Most people would agree that the colours you see together in nature are great to pair together in an outfit. Today I am a walking watermelon.
(Or possibly a flower, but as a general rule I find food more interesting.)
It seems as though this summer might go on and on forever! Every hot day we get I’m sure must be the last, but here we go again and it’s almost April, crazy. But I’m not going to waste the opportunity to get some more wear out of my shorts, because unless I develop a fondness for short with tights they aren’t coming out of my cupboard for the next 7 months. (Disclaimer: I have seen some awesome outfits featuring shorts with tights, but I’m not convinced I can pull it off.)
Which brings me to the fact that I’ve accidentally worn denim shorts with a transparent shirt for two Wednesdays in a row. Which I normally would not have noticed, except I’m linking up with Kiwi Womens Style for Wardrobe Wednesday and just checked what I wrote in last week’s post. Oops. I definitely don’t want to take the “all my outfits are the same” angle, so let’s go with “I’m a real person with who doesn’t plan outfits in advance”!
I’d also like to say thank you SO MUCH to Kelly from Kiwi Womens Style for featuring me in her Wardrobe Wednesday article today. Such a lovely write-up, I am totally honoured :)
